We have just begun writing on Storybird! I'm really excited at the potential for student authors. Here is a book that has been made on the site to explain it a little...
I am setting up classes for 3rd through 5th Grades at this time, and I'm working on different digital publishing platforms for other grades such as Lego Comic Builder (Second Grade) and Just Too Easy (K-2). More to come, just an update to let you know what we are working on to support learning in the classroom.
I'd like to expand Storybird to other grades along with using other comic building programs for students to create digital works, so please let me know if you have ideas or interest in collaborating on that. I'm in touch with Storybird about allowing more than one teacher to be in charge of a classroom, but if that is not a possiblility we can move students from "my classroom" to yours. If you are interested we can explore that option or I can continue to administer classes.
Dot day is an activity based on the book named "The Dot" by Peter H. Reynolds. It is a wonderful story for our students, one reason being that it inspires them to be artists. They don't need a license, a degree, or anything to be an artist. Children are born artists, and creativity is natural to them. Dot day helps students see something that they have never before seen in their art, and introducing them to an innovative technology called Augmented Reality.
After experiencing this wonderful book, students will create an original work of art, and later watch as it comes to life in 3D! We are using two iPads and the (free) Quiver App along with an art paper that is called an AR trigger. Learn more about Dot Day here, and you can also learn more about the Quiver App. If you would like to download your own Dot Day page, you can do so here. |
